Richard Insley
I have always had an interest in sports and fitness, and was an active gym member for over 10 years in England, attending various fitness and exercise classes.
Being a keen runner, I entered some fun runs, progressing to half marathons, and in 1998 ran my first full marathon. I wanted to do some alternative events, so decided triathlon would be fun. I entered numerous short sprint events and moved up to Olympic distance triathlons, and completed in my first half Iron man Triathlon in 2003; a 2.5km open water swim, an 80km cycle and a 20 km run.
My wife, I and our four cats moved from England to Winnipeg in 2004. I am certified with Can-Fit-Pro as a Personal Trainer and Nutrition and Wellness Specialist, a NESTA Lifestyle and Weight management Specialist and also a member of The Manitoba Triathlon Association.
In June 08 I competed in The Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon in San Francisco and regularly enter into local running and Triathlon events.
My passion is to help people reach there individual health goals, whether is it to lose weight, just get fitter, prepare for a sporting event, recover from an injury , etc, etc. Every one has different goals and no two people want the same thing. I strive to offer a "personal" service with constant contact, keeping in touch with each and everyone of my clients and making sure they are getting the most from there prescribed exercise routines and nutrition counselling.
My philosophy to exercise and training is to keep it fun and fresh, and to make it part of your daily routine. Set yourself attainable goals, don't focus on losing pounds, aim to fit into those favourite old jeans or to complete your first run or other fun, yet challenging event.
Richard.
